New track w/ sample.

I've recently been working on a new track, mostly whilst being dazed and distraught (as usual). It's a soothing ambient tune created on Ableton using MIDI controllers (Handsonic/Akai LPK25). Have a listen and enjoy, Marty's debut track:

Back on Ableton!

With the new season upon us, I feel the need to hop back on Ableton and work on some tracks. This time though— I will be spending far more time on each piece and their elements; timing, flow and more action orientated also, hopefully I will be able to figure out how to utilize audio samples, to give the tracks more depth. In addition, more live drums/bongos/shakers. Would be awesome if I could find a cheap bass guitar to fiddle with as well (maybe try and learn a few chords, more-so just rhythmic tapping on it.) Also, I'd love to collaborate with my good pal Timmy D, with some sexy guitar licks and help in the overall composition of them, in addition to practicing more for our band and us solidifying tracks, so we can play some shooowws, I'm jonesin'.

Going to buy one of these bad boys. Then mod it out so I can get the music off of it and twist it around with Ableton. I'm not going to get excessive with the sounds, though, I believe it would be a nice touch to the DJ project.

New Track and Name.

So, for the little solo project I'm doing, I decided to change the name. The original 'Burnt Topsht' was too -odd, quite frankly. The new name is 'Miths'. Just thought it was more simple (and hey its my boring last name, Smith, with the 'S' in the front, clever, eh?) Thus, Miths, not Myths. Anyway... Here's a little tune I created today..

School.

Well, it's that time of year again. fucking school. time for strenuous stress to take hold of my mind. Recently got Ableton Live 8, which is pretty ridiculous. Made a new track, cranked it out a little quick and couldn't reopen it.. haha, oh well..

Baths and Shows.

Just found out about the newest talent in the glitch-hop LA scene -- Baths. Introduced to me be Tim, Baths is a welcome talent to the scene, providing pretty sick off-beats while subtly slipping some ambient poppy vocals into the mix. So, the front man of Baths is gay, "so what who cares, show's over." Steve Brule Also found out that he's opening up for 'El Ten Eleven, Dosh" at the Firebird on September 29th which is a band I've yet to listen to, but as I will be attending this show regardless because of the opener, I hope they're at least decent. It's unfortunate that the first time I attended the Firebird I was kicked though, my fault (obviously) though.. Couldn't resist having uno cerveza :/ ah well, I'm sure they've forgotten. Speaking of that venue, Liars, a prominent indie-punk band hailing from the U.K is playing there this Thursday (July 22nd). I'm excited about it for I've heard they put on quite the show, because seeing them open up for Radiohead at a huge venue such as Verizon Wireless Amphitheater doesn't really count.
